South Survives Late Scare, Beat Pick Central 78-66 In Regional Semifinal

Westerville South is heading to their second consecutive Regional Final after beating Pickerington Central 78-66 in front of a sellout crowd at Ohio Dominican University. The Wildcats pushed the tempo early racing out to a 31-14 lead. South extended their lead to as much as 24 late in the third, but Pick Central mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback led by Jalen Tate and Ibi Watson. The Tigers pulled to 55-50 with 4:57 after the run that got the building shaking. However, Central would not get any closer with South handling their foul shots. Michigan bound Watson led all scorers with 27 with Tate (Northern Kentucky) adding 20. Ohio State bound Kaleb Wesson led the Wildcats with 18 points and 15 rebounds while the rest of the starting five all hit double figures. Westerville South now faces the Winner of Gahanna and Upper Arlington in the Regional Final on Saturday.
Pick. Central Wins 4th District Title in 5 Years, Tops Coffman 60-43

Pickerington Central had an explosive second half to defeat Dublin Coffman 60-43 and return to the Regional Tournament for the 4th time in 5 years. After trailing 11-4, the Tigers regrouped and began to put together solid possessions. A Jalen Tate three at the first horn but the Tigers up 17-16 and they wouldn't trail the rest of the night. Senior stars Ibi Watson and Tate combined for 42 points to spur on the victory. The Tigers now play Westerville South for a spot in a Regional Final, Wednesday March 9th at Ohio Dominican.
Pickerington Central Remains Hot, Beats Walnut Ridge 51-34

Pickerington Central comfortably led Walnut Ridge all 32 minutes, rolling to a 51-34 win and an opportunity to capture a district title the next time they take the court. The Tigers held the Scots to single-digits points in three of the four quarters. Ibi Watson scored 22 points for Central, while Jalen Tate added 18.
Tigers Roll Past Darby 67-24

The Pickerington Central defense stepped up big in a 64-27 tournament win over Darby. Central held Darby to only 11 points through the first half. The Tiger trio of Ibi Watson, Jalen Tate, and Jeremiah Francis combined for 42 points in the victory. The fourth-seeded Pickerington Central will now face the winner of #10 Walnut Ridge and #26 Marion Harding in the District Semifinal.
Pick Central Knocks Off Gahanna, 59-49, Earns Share of OCC-Ohio Crown

Pickerington Central didn't trail all night in a 59-49 win at Gahanna to claim a share of the OCC-Ohio title. The Tigers' Sterling Manley went down with a gruesome leg injury early in the 2nd quarter that put a halt to the action. Manley was taken off on a stretcher after 15+ minutes and the Tigers began to play with even more fire. The Lions got within 6 points in a furious comeback in the 4th qtr but Pick Central didn't allow them closer, holding on for a 10 pt win. Jeremiah Francis finished with a key 14 pts (all in the 2nd half) for PC while Nick Ward had 15 pts for Gahanna.
