Tri-Valley Boys Basketball 2014: DVD Trailer July 16, 2014 The Scotties ultimately didn't find a way to repeat their MVL Championship glory of 2013, but this year's squad certainly had a bounty of great moments. The crew from Dresden hosted and won their 2nd straight home tournament game in the tough D-1 Central District. They asserted dominance over rising MVL powers in Sheridan and Philo. And they finished the season with an impressive 8-game winning streak (with an average 15-point margin of victory) before falling at rival Zanesville in the Division 1 Central District tournament. Highlighting the Dawgs' season was a familiar big man, breakout future stars, and clutch role players. Senior Avery Williams frequently controlled his post, often scoring and rebounding at will. Juniors Matt Gray and Camden Craig found their rhythm as the season progressed, becoming a defensive stalwart and 3-point slinger, respectively. And the Scotties' saw clutch performances from every other starter and bench player at key moments in the season. Tri-Valley may not have repeated as MVL Champs in 2014, but they've set themselves up nicely for a run in the coming years. They finished the season with a 16-8 overall record, 12-4 in the MVL. Zanesville Eliminates Tri-Valley in Tournament Rematch March 3, 2014 Zanesville (#4) took down Tri-Valley (#26) in a rivalry rematch, 52-33, to advance to the OHSAA D-1 District Semifinals. The game went similar to the regular season matchup: close to begin, but with Zanesville pulling away to win big. Teams traded punches in quarter 1. Tied at 9, Zanesville scored 6 quick points before the end of the quarter and continued to significantly build their lead throughout the rest of the game. Tri-Valley ends their season with a 16-8 record. Senior Avery Williams led the Dawgs in scoring with 16 and had 8 rebounds. For the Blue Devils, Senior Thomas Wibbeler was the spark. He drilled 3 of his 4 attempts from beyond the arc which led to his game-high 17 points. Zanesville advances to play #11 Westerville South on Tuesday, March 3rd, 7 p.m. at Westerville Central H.S.

RIVALRY REMATCH: Tri-Valley at Zanesville [HOOPS HYPE VIDEO] February 25, 2014 Rivals Tri-Valley and Zanesville meet once again, this time in the OHSAA Division 1 State Basketball Tournament. The Blue Devils defeated the Scotties 51-36 earlier in the season. The Dawgs, though, have 8 straight wins under their belt and revenge on their mind. The Blue Devils finished the season 21-1 and ranked #2 in the state. Zanesville hosts Tri-Valley at Winland Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 26th in this tournament rivalry rematch with a trip to the District Semifinals on the line. Scotties Advance Past Licking Heights, Sets Up Tourney Rematch at Zanesville February 24, 2014 Tri-Valley (#26) edged past visiting Licking Heights (#29) to advance in the Div. 1 Tournament, 57-53. The Dawgs and Hornets traded leads in all 4 quarters. It wasn't until the final two minutes where Tri-Valley made enough shots (and Licking Heights missed enough) to pull away. Specifically, it was Junior Camden Craig who was perfect from the line throughout the night and most importantly with 7 seconds left. Up 53-50, Craig rebounded an off triple from the Hornets and was fouled intentionally. He sinked 4 straight FTs to seal the deal and advance. The Scotties will challenge Zanesville (#4) in a rematch of a mid-January match where the Blue Devils def. Tri-Valley 51-38.
