Buckeye Trial Falls in a Shootout to Malvern, 81-70 March 8, 2017 The #5 Warriors went toe-to-toe with #4 Malvern on Friday, but the Hornets pulled away in the 4th quarter, winning 81-70. Malvern’s Mark Mayle dominated the paint with 26 points and grabbed 22 rebounds. Seniors CJ McCall and Troy Pontius gave it their all for Trail, combining for 53 points. The Warriors finish with a 17-7 record after winning only 4 games the previous year.

Shorthanded Warriors Cruise Past Bridgeport, 88-65 March 1, 2017 Despite having two key players out with injuries, Buckeye Trail had no trouble rolling past Bridgeport, 88-65. The Warriors jumped out to a 17-2 lead and never looked back. Troy Pontius paced Trail with 33 points, while Zach Grafton added 18, Justin Jones chipped in 12. Next up for the Warriors, they travel to Malvern for the sectional final.

Buckeye Trail Falls to Martins Ferry in OVAC 3-A Final, 64-47 February 20, 2017 Behind a three-headed offensive attack, Martins Ferry took down Buckeye Trail, 64-47, to claim the OVAC 3-A Championship. Zac Selby, Darius Ray, and Jack Davis scored all but four points for the Purple Riders, with Selby pouring in 28. The Warriors started hot, but a knee injury to starting center Jake Doudna changed the complexion of the game. CJ McCall and Troy Pontius stepped up, scoring 17 points each for Trail.

Buckeye Trail Triumphs Over Fort Frye in OT, 68-66 February 15, 2017 Buckeye Trail is MOVING ON! Despite years of tough losses on the road at Fort Frye, Buckeye Trail found a way to take down the Cadets in an OVAC 3-A Semifinal game 68-66 in OT! Down by 4 points in overtime, Trail fought back to finish in EPIC fashion and advance into Saturday's OVAC 3-A title game.
