AP Poll: Big Win Propels Coffman to 3rd, Tri-Valley Still 5th

AP Poll: Big Win Propels Coffman to 3rd, Tri-Valley Still 5th

With at least a share of the OCC-Central division in its back pocket, Dublin Coffman is on the move again in the latest Ohio Associated Press State Football Rankings. The Rocks (9-0) climbed a spot to 3rd after dismantling previously 12th ranked Olentangy Liberty last Friday 52-24. That win put Coffman in the driver’s seat for the outright division crown as Upper Arlington visits for a week 10 match-up Thursday night.

Also in D-I, Westerville Central (8-1) remained in the top ten despite a 35-10 loss at Hilliard Darby last week. The Warhawks drop from 7th to 9th. Meanwhile, OCC-Cardinal Division-leading Darby (8-1) received some votes after that huge week nine win over Westerville Central. The Panthers are 13th.
In Division II, Olentangy (9-0) wrapped up its first-ever OCC-Capital Division Championship with last week’s win at Mount Vernon, 49-35. The Braves continue to be ranked 2nd in the new A.P. poll, but garnered four first-place votes. Looking ahead to the playoffs, Olentangy has already clinched the No. 1 seed in region five.
In Division III, Tri-Valley locked up at least a share of its 4th straight MVL championship with a convincing 35-7 win over previously unbeaten Maysville last week. The Scotties (9-0) didn’t move in the poll, ranked 5th, but are within two voter points of 4th ranked Wapakoneta. Defensively, Tri-Valley has allowed the fewest points of any team in the state of Ohio, regardless of division, with 34.

In Division IV, Maysville (8-1) slipped to 12 in the rankings following that week nine loss to Tri-Valley. Previously, the Panthers were ranked 6th which was the best in school history.

Listed below is the complete poll of how a state panel of sports writers and broadcasters rated Ohio high school football teams in the sixth weekly Associated Press poll of 2014, by OHSAA divisions, with won-lost record and total points (first-place votes in parentheses):
