History was made in 2016 for Olentangy Liberty with their first ever 10-0 regular season, Regional title, and State Final Four appearance. The OCC-Buckeye champs were strong at every position and proved to be one of the most ruthless, hard-hitting teams in the state. In their 14th year as a program, this edition of the Patriots will forever be known as the standard-setters for future teams.
St. Ignatius Ends Liberty's Dream Season, 24-14, in State Semi

In their first trip to the State Semis, Liberty went down swinging to 11-time champion St. Ignatius, 24-14. Down 14-0, the Patriots' defense exploded in the 2nd half, holding the Wildcats to -7 yards on their first 5 drives before QB Pat Ryan sprinted 69 yards for a touchdown. Liberty's Brendon White would connect with Drew Rosi for a late score, but the Patriots couldn't finish the comeback as their season came to an end at 13-1.
Liberty Makes History With Regional Final Win Over Lorain

Liberty is headed to the FINAL FOUR for the first time in school HISTORY! Last week the Patriots (13-0) used a second half comeback to edge Lorain 24-20 and earn the program's first ever regional championship and berth into the D-I State Semifinal. The Titans (10-3) led 20-10 late in the third quarter before Liberty clawed back to take the lead for good with 10:54 to play in the game. Lorain had one final chance to go in front with under a minute to play, but the Patriots defense came up with four consecutive stops to seal the win.
Liberty Cruises Past Medina In Playoffs, 45-27

For the first time in program history, the Patriots are onto week 13 after handling Medina, 45-27. Behind a stellar 5-touchdown performance from Brendon White, Liberty built and maintained a double-digit lead for most of the game. Now 12-0 on the season, Liberty advances to take on #3 Lorain in the regional final.
Liberty Holds Off Orange, 24-17

Olentangy Liberty opened the playoffs with a rematch against rival Orange, and came out with the W again, 24-17. Griffin Hughes had the biggest play of the night when his 50 yard pick-6 put Liberty up 21-3. The Pioneers were able to fight back and got within 7 points, but the Patriots were able to run out the clock. Brendon White finished with 112 all-purpose yards and intercepted a pass on defense. The top-seeded Patriots advance to face #5 Medina.
