A double-overtime win over Tri-Valley last week not only kept John Glenn undefeated on the season at 15-0, it also has the Muskies climbing to new heights in the Associated Press Division II poll.
In the latest poll released Monday, February 2, the reigning MVL champions are ranked 3rd in D-II with their impressive 15-0 record. It's believed to be the highest ranking ever for a basketball team in school history.
St. Vincent-St. Mary (15-0) is ranked number one, while Franklin and Duke-signee Luke Kennard are 2nd at 16-1. Last week Kennard became Ohio's 6th all-time leading scorer reaching 2,675 career points. John Glenn's Jay Burson is second on the all-time list with 2,958 points.
Also, in Division II, Dover is ranked 6th at 16-1 overall. John Glenn travels to face Dover Tuesday in a huge non-conference match-up. The last time the two teams met when ranked in the top ten was 2002. The Muskies have never won on the road at Dover.
In Division I, Dublin Coffman rebounded from their upset loss to Upper Arlington with four consecutive wins. The Rocks (16-1) remain a D-I contender and are the highest ranked OCC team sitting in 6th. Westerville South is 8th with only one loss. Dublin Jerome (15-1) slipped to 9th after suffering its first loss of the year at Bradley last Friday. Gahanna Lincoln (15-2) is 10th in D-I after losing for the second time in three games. The Lions fell to Newark at home last Friday 52-49.
