Central Ohio’s top ranked team now hails out of Lewis Center. In the latest Associated Press Ohio High School State Football Rankings, Olentangy (7-0) is 2nd following a convincing 48-14 win over New Albany. The Braves lead the OCC-Capital Division at 4-0, one game up on remaining opponents Worthington Kilbourne and Mount Vernon.
In Division I, Central Crossing gave Dublin Coffman arguably its toughest test to date last Friday, but not even the Comets could complete the task of taking down the surging Rocks. Coffman’s 42-21 win kept them perfect on the season, but the OCC-Central Division co-leaders slipped a spot to 4th in the new D-I A.P. poll.
Undefeated Westerville Central is 8th in D-I. Last week the Warhawks took down rival Westerville North 39-17 to win the Battle for Maxtown Road. Olentangy Liberty (6-1) also received some votes this week and are now ranked 12th in D-I. Their only loss was a 35-34 overtime setback to Olentangy.
MVL-leading Tri-Valley holds steady at 6th in the Division III poll. The Scotties (7-0) outgained John Glenn 412-85 in total yards on their way to a 44-0 win last Friday.
Elsewhere in Division IV, other MVL undefeated Maysville (7-0) continues to build on its best start in school history. The Panthers are 9th in the latest A.P. poll after knocking off Morgan in week seven 34-4. It's their first time ever holding a top ten spot. Maysville are Tri-Valley are scheduled for a week nine showdown in Dresden.
