Newark Basketball 2015 DVD Trailer

With 5 senior starters leading the way, Newark captured the elusive District Title that had evaded them for 3 straight years. Senior and Ohio University commit Jordan Dartis led the way for the 21-6 OCC-Ohio Champs, breaking countless records along the way. Dartis averaged 19 ppg and became the program's all-time leading scorer as well as being selected as 1st Team All-Ohio by the AP and USA Today. Seniors Khayle Woods, Darius Shackleford, Dustin Stoneburner, and Kaysey Brokaw-Henderson all played integral roles for the 'Cats, using their grit and toughness to help lead Newark to their first District Title (in a 51-41 win over Tri-Valley) since 2008. Beyond claiming some hardware, notable highlights of the Wildcats season include wins over rivals Pick Central (twice), Zanesville (twice) and Gahanna (once). Newark ultimately lost in the Regional Semis to state runner-up Westerville South, 73-64. Westerville South Conquers Newark, 73-64, Advances to Regional Final

All Westerville South starters scored in double figures as the #1 seed 'Cats defeated #5 Newark 73-64 to advance to their 3rd Regional Final in the past 7 years. South took a 10-0 lead to start the game and while Newark tied it multiple times and drained 11 triples, they were never able to snag the lead. South out-rebounded their opponent 27-13 to spur on the win. Newark senior Jordan Dartis had a game-high 22 points and ends his career as the 'Cats all-time leading scorer. Westerville South advances to play Northland on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Regional Final. A win would send Coach Calo and his squad to their first ever Final Four.
Newark Punches Sweet 16 Ticket, Wins District Over Tri-Valley 51-41

After losing in the district final the previous three years, Newark finally took the title with a 51-41 victory over Tri-Valley. The Wildcats played another tight playoff game as Newark took only a 23-21 lead into halftime. Newark would take momentum and the game with a buzzer beater at the end of the third to cap a 8-0 run that would end up being the difference maker in the game. Tri-Valley junior Marcus Dempsey had a game high 21 points and Dustin Stoneburner would lead a balanced Wildcat attack with 13. Newark advances to play Westerville South in the regional semifinal.
Newark Advances to District Final Again, Slips Past Rival Zanesville 43-37

Rival Zanesville (19-5) pushed Newark (20-5) to the edge in this D-I Central District semifinal, but the Wildcats persevered with the 43-37 come-from-behind win. Senior Jordan Dartis paced Newark with 16 points, while Ramon Wilson's 14 was tops for the Blue Devils. The win pushes the OCC-Ohio Division champs into their 4th straight D-I District Final appearance.
Newark Knocks Out Westerville Central, 64-49

Newark held off a determined Westerville Central squad, 64-49. Newark raced out to an early 10 point lead, but the Warhawks scratched their way back into the game to tie it at 19 halfway through the second quarter. The Wildcats found their rhythm as Jordan Dartis pumped in 25 points in the win. The Warhawks' Will Maynus and Anthony Arnold dropped 16 points a piece. Newark will face Zanesville at Pickerington North on March 11 at 7pm in the District Semifinal.
