Davidson's Cinderella Run Continues with 52-51 Win Over Newark

Nick Livingston drilled a floater with 8 seconds left to push Davidson past Newark in a 52-51 District Semi win. Newark (#13) looked to be pulling away late but only made 1 of their final 4 free throw attempts to give the Wildcats (#20) a chance. For Newark, BJ Duling finished with a game-high 16 points but only 2 of those came in the 2nd half. Livingston, Max Huber, and Travis Moore combined for 38 points for Davidson. Pulling their 2nd tournament upset in a row, Davidson now advances to a District Final vs #2 Westerville South. Newark finishes the season at 18-7 and return all starters for their next season.
Newark Ousts Zanesville, 67-40, in Tourney Opener

Newark jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as the Wildcats took down Zanesville 67-40 in tournament action. J.T. Shumate drilled four first-quarter three's for the Wildcats and finished with 14 points. BJ Duling kept the energy going in the second half with an emphatic dunk to put things out of reach for Zanesville. Aronde Myers had 14 points for the Blue Devils. The thirteenth-seeded 'Cats will now host #41 Westland in the next round.
Newark Lights Up Tri-Valley, 72-56

In a highly anticipated non-league battle just before tournament time, Newark blew past Tri-Valley, 72-56. The 'Cats had the hot shooting hand throughout as they started on an 11-0 run, scored from the field on 22 of their first 27 shots, and shot 73% on the night. BJ Duling had 23 points in the 15th win for Newark this season. Marcus Dempsey paced the Dawgs with 21 points in the loss.
Pick Central Edges Newark, 44-42

Pickerington Central (16-4, 10-2) came into Jim Allen Gymnasium and took a critical 44-42 win to sweep their season series with Newark (13-6, 8-4) and stay alive in the OCC-Ohio title race. With senior Ibi Watson sidelined, Jalen Tate and Jeremiah Francis came up big for the Tigers, scoring 35 of the team's 44 points. Late-game free throws spurred on Pick Central to the win and hindered Newark. BJ Duling finished with 15 points for the 'Cats.
Wildcats Win Close One at Groveport 47-40

Newark earned a hard fought road win at Groveport-Madison 47-40. The Wildcats (13-5, 8-3) relied on their defense to step up on a off night shooting. BJ Duling and Hunter Dennison each had 12 points for Newark. Lony Francis led the Cruisers with 15 points in the loss.
